Late summer is upon us and produce is coming in by the bushels! Alberta freestone peaches, Olathe and Pueblo corn, Grand Junction tomatoes, Green River (Utah), Pueblo, and Rocky Ford melons, and more are coming in fresh each week. Frozen pie cherries are in, and one of our favorite parts of the season is here… chile roasting! Even though it’s hot right now, cooler temperatures are on the horizon. That means fall pansies, mums, and perennials are coming in!
While supplies last, we have Welby’s Field Trials pots for sale. Welby’s what? Field Trials!
Each year, Welby’s grows hundreds of plants from seed distributors all over the world. They look for things like growth habit, disease resistance, environmental effects, and general aesthetic. They then display the pots for industry professionals to vote for their favorites. Favorites are added to the inventory to put new varieties in the hands of customers. Sometimes it’s simply an updated variety that produces better blooms in heat, sometimes it’s a whole new color or even species!
Once the trials are over, the pots are sold to garden center retailers for customers to see! You get a peek into the field trials and a chance to be one of the first to have new varieties in your garden. Once the Field Trials pots are gone, we won’t get any more so hurry in to see the best for yourself.
