Friday, March 7

9:15-10:15 – Lawn Care for the Pikes Peak Region
Learn how to rejuvenate your lawn after winter, weed control, seeding, fertilizing, and best water-saving lawn care practices. You can have the greenest lawn on the block!

10:30-11:30 – Fertilizing for Success
We’ll talk about different fertilizers and their applications. Whether it’s organic vegetables, trees, garden beds, or containers, we’ll cover our favorites so you can have the best blooming season ever!

11:45-12:45 – Raised Bed & Alternative Space Gardening
Want raised beds, containers, or straw bales as your garden space? We’ll discuss what we’ve learned in the past and demonstrate ways to successfully grow in small areas.

1:00-2:00 – Triumphant Tomatoes, Victorious Veggies!
Newbies welcome! Experienced growers, come on in! We’re going to talk tomato gardening and how to be successful. Choosing the variety can be daunting, finding the location is vital, and watching the progress is rewarding. Learn what it takes to grow the best vegetable trophies this season!

2:15-3:15 – The Unrooted Cutting Process
Join Megan from Apple Valley Greenhouse to learn the basics of taking, preparing, and maintaining plant cuttings so you can propagate your favorites! Learn how to select the best stems, trim them for success, and provide the right conditions for strong root development.

3:30-4:30 – Seed Starting Made Simple
Start seeds indoors successfully! This intro class will discuss best seeds for indoor starting, proper starting times, soils, fertilizing, and transplanting.
 

Saturday, March 8th

9:15-10:15 – Insect Pest Control
with Daniel Chimeno of Fertilome and Mike Spencer. If you’ve ever struggled with grasshoppers, aphids, grubs, mites, and other pests, we’ve got solutions. Learn to responsibly treat pests in your garden. We will also discuss natural and organic treatments and alternative methods.

10:30-11:30 – Growing Culinary Herbs from Garden to Table
Join Tammi Hartung from Desert Canyon Farms and learn how to cultivate, care for, and harvest a variety of herbs. From selecting the right herbs for your space to tips on preserving and using them in the kitchen, this seminar will give you the knowledge and confidence to grow your own delicious, homegrown flavors.

11:45-12:45 – Welby’s What’s New?
Welby Gardens presents one of our favorites, “What’s New For 2025” annuals and perennials. We get so excited to learn what our growing partners discover and add to their collection. Show off new plant varieties in your yard!

1:00-2:00 – Peak Picks: Exploring New Trees and Shrubs for the Pikes Peak Palette
Dave Dickey of Schmidt/Woodburn Nursery highlights varieties for our region. Learn about different types of trees, colors, shapes, and how they can enhance your landscape. From beautiful flowering trees to those that provide shade, we’ll show you how to choose the perfect tree for your space.

2:15-3:15 – Designing and Planting Beautiful Flower Pots
Ernie Koppisch of Spencer’s demonstrates his method of choosing flowers, planting, and maintaining for a gorgeous display of living color. Learn the best plants to “spill” over the container, create textural interest, and bloom continuously for the season.

3:30-4:30 – Soil Composition and Its Role in Plant Health
Justin Hunter from FoxFarm Soil and Fertilizer Company talks about the importance of soil health. The foundation of all plant life is soil and the life within it. Learn how to enrich your soils for the best and most robust gardens, containers, and lawns.

Mark Wallace from Monrovia will talk about trees, shrubs, vines, and peonies that work well in the Pikes Peak region. Learn why Monrovia stocks Spencer’s with the plants they do- from adaptability and aesthetics, to resilience and ecosystem support.

12:30-1:00 – Winged Predators!
Nature’s Educators share their LIVE ambassadors with you! Connect with the ambassadors and learn their personal stories to understand the importance of conservation. Ambassadors are Colorado natives sharing our landscapes and may include a falcon, hawk, owl, a snake and others, depending on whooo’s available!

1:30-2:30 – Green-ish Thumb Vegetable Gardening
Heather Gunnerson of Spencer’s delves into vegetable gardening basics, common mistakes, solutions to problems from insects to low yield, and more.

2:45-3:45 – Beautiful Roses: A Simple Guide to Growing and Nurturing
Maren Goltz discusses the basics of rose care in the Pikes Peak region. Roses can thrive in our area with a few care techniques and simple supplies. Yes, you can grow incredible roses, too!
