The weekend started off beautifully with some incredible weather. The sales were hot, the greenhouse was colorful, the seminars were free, and there’s more to come!
Here’s a schedule of today’s seminars:
9:00 A.M. PIKES PEAK URBAN GARDENS FEATURING LARRY STEBBINS
Grow amazing raised beds and learn about composting basics. Discover how to use the space of a raised bed most efficiently and produce a bountiful harvest. Use homemade compost to revitalize your soil with nutrients and keep your plants healthy!
10:15 A.M. CULINARY HERBS FROM GARDEN TO TABLE
Join Tammi Hartung from Desert Canyon Farm as she shares thoughts on growing culinary herbs both in the garden and on the counter top indoors. She will give you many ideas on ways to cook with them to spice up everyday meals and treat your dinner guests like royalty.
11:30 A.M. WHAT’S NEW FOR 2018
Giovanna Romero from Welby Gardens features What’s New for 2018, one of our most popular seminars! We can’t wait to see what new plant varieties will be on hand and what plants have been improved. Picture the spectacular color!
12:45 P.M. NATURE’S EDUCATORS
A very special and exciting event for everyone! We are thrilled to present animal ambassadors from Colorado for you to meet up close and personal! In this program you’ll learn what makes Colorado’s habitats such a great place for some of our feathered, scaly, and slimy neighbors.
2:00 P.M. TREES & SHRUBS FOR COLORADO
David Dickey from Van Essen Nursery & J. Frank Schmidt & Son Co. introduces new nursery stock as well as great trees & shrubs hardy for our area. Find out what’s hardy, easy to maintain, and beautiful for our climate.
3:15 P.M. NATURAL ANIMAL REPELLANTS
Marilyn Cox from I Must Garden presents an informative seminar on safe animal repellents! It includes deer repellants, small animal repellants such as rabbit, squirrel, mole, vole, and snake repellants. There’s even a product to repel dogs and cats. Marilyn will be addressing pest problems you may have in your area, so bring your questions!
4:00 P.M. STRAW BALE GARDENING
Annelise Wilhite from Spencer’s Lawn and Garden Centers will show you how to set up and maintain a straw bale garden. Perfect for any size yard, straw bales can grow a surprising amount! It’s an easy and different way to grow a garden, so come learn all about it!
